Radio Frequency Identification is a method using RFID tags and RFID readers to track parts across a system. Usually used in conjunction with a PLC or SCADA software such as Inductive Automation’s Ignition, RFID offers a solution to part tracking problems. An RFID tag would be attached to a part or the part’s carrier and read across the systems. These RFID read heads can read or write data to the tag allowing for storing information about previous operations to follow the part across the system.
